VALOJOULX

Valojoulx is located in the south-west of Montignac, in the heart of the Vézère Valley. Its geological history has been marked by high sedimentation and erosion of stream Vézère Quaternary, followed by exploitation of manganese from the 19th century. We can observe two distinct areas: north (high plateau Valojoulx) and south (predominantly Vézère Valley and intermediate plates), separated by Turançon brook, whose valley oriented to the siting of buildings .

From the source to the Vézère Turançon fed the wheels of five mills: Mill Winch, Mill de Madame, the two mills Lagorce upstream of the town, the Moulin de la Mailleraie and finally the Mill at the confluence Querrerie with the River.

The Seignolle, another stream adjacent to the town of Sergeac,  run the millstones of Masnègre.

Valojoulx attracts a green tourism thanks to a verdant area, the marked walking tours ( Boucle de Posadou...), the inner calm, and the high quality of the architecture which  composed the town center.

An important element draws tha attention, The church dating back the 12th and 13th century which is registered among « l'inventaire des monuments historiques » in 1974. The trackroof stone houses enable to be as a typical sarladais village

Valojoulx has numerous tourist assets such as the Gallic cabins (registered among  l'inventaire des Monuments Historiques) but also its geografical situation -a few kilometers from away the castle of Losse, the  facsimile of the Lascaux cave-
