Le Thot

Le Thot is situated halfway between les Eyzies, the world capital of the prehistoric times and Montignac Lascaux. Le Thot is both an interpretation centre and an animal park.

Visting le Thot during your holidays in Dordogne

The visit of le Thot enables to discover the paintings of the Lascaux cave which have not been reproduced in the facsimile of Lascaux 2. It is interseting to have a twin ticket for the visit of le Thot and  Lascaux 2 to see most of the main prehistoric paintings and engravings of the famous cave closed to the public in 1963.

Beyond the prehistoric masterpieces created by our ancestors-the Cro Magnons, the centre offers a real interpretation. The reliefs of the original cave 's walls have been meticulously reproduced and some films suggest  interpretation of the techniques used by the artists and their intentions.

Le Thot, animal park

In the park, you will find some animal'breeds which lived in the Prehistoric Times. The discovery of the park enables to combine both a pleasant walking tour and a discovery of rare animal such as Aurochs and many others.

Contrary to the Lascaux 2, the free visits are available. Take you time to discover the masterpieces and the interpretation suggested by the  centre. Le Thot offers picnic areas and workshops for children during the High season.
