Festival of the Black Périgord - Vézère Valley

In 1983, a few friends who were keen on music decided to launch an ambitious festival, in the heart of the Black Périgord in the Vézère Valley. The small group from the Association Musique et Histoire en Montignacois set up the project in the Montignac Office

They wanted to share their passion and introduce music to the inhabitants of Périgord. The Association was to have more and more contact with famous artists and was to organize shows in new exceptional places such as the Abbey of St Amand de Coly...so as to maintain the audience’s interest and to work along with different public collectivities.

Today hundreds of musicians from all over the world are happy to come and play at the Festival of the “ Périgord Noir”.

Very much known as the great classical music festival of the Aquitaine, it takes place every year. it offers more than 20 classical music concerts in a unique architectural and natural setting in Europe.
