Descriptif

This prehistoric rock shelter was discovered in 1868, and the 4 skeletons which would serve as the basis for the description of Cro-Magnon (Homo sapiens sapiens) were found here in 1878.
The objects found here are dated as belonging to the Aurignacian culture (between 40,000 and 28,000 years ago).

L'abri de Cro-Magnon se trouve aux Eyzies-de-Tayac, à environ 600 m du centre et 150 m de la gare, sur la route de Tayac. A gauche de l'Hôtel Cro-Magnon, un chemin monte doucement, le long des habitations, jusqu'à l'abri préhistorique.
