This well-kept secret is at last accessible. The visit begins with a walk through the valley and ends by an ascent of the main part of the castle offering an unforgettable view. Commarque was built as a stronghold in the 12th and 14th centuries and for a long time it belonged to the Beynac family. In 1968, Hubert de Commarque a descendant of the original owners, decided to give the site a new lease of life. The whole of the site is now visible, but the restoration work undertaken 35 years ago is far from complete!
Free car park 500 meters away. Visit freely or follow a guided tour in July and August.
